Abstract

This research aims to analyse the utilisation of learning applications in education to understand the letter recognition abilities of children living in the Mini Medici Kindergarten's Group B Early Childhood Education (PAUD), using the Serial Belajar Si Kecil application in the learning process. The research population consists of all the students in Group B of Mini Medici Kindergarten, totaling 60 students, and this study is quantitative research. The experimental method used is the "Pretest-posttest control group design." Consists of 30 students from class B1 and 30 students from class B2. Because the two samples tested are very small, normality and homogeneity tests were not conducted, so data analysis was performed directly using the t-test. The results of the research on children in group B aged 5-6 years at Mini Medici Kindergarten are divided into 2 groups: experimental (B1) and control (B2). B1 learned using the SECIL application, while B2 learned without the application. Observations were conducted to assess the effectiveness of the application in letter recognition through an observation sheet. The analysis was conducted to answer the research hypothesis. The conclusion is that the average score for letter recognition ability in the experimental class was initially low at 26.80. After using the SECIL learning application, the score increased to 53.53, which is considered high. The difference in effectiveness between the experimental and control classes was found to be significant, with better improvement in letter recognition ability in the experimental class. The use of the SECIL application can enhance children's ability to recognize letters, especially in the age group of 5-6 years.
