Abstract

This study entitled "Effectiveness of Using Project Based Learning Models in Improving Competence in Writing Observation Report Texts (on Class X Students of SMA Negeri 5 Garut, Academic Year 2021/2022)". This research is based on the fact that the students' ability in writing the text of the Observation Report is still low. Monotonous learning and lack of interest in learning are suspected to make students less able to explore their abilities in expressing their ideas and ideas in written form. Therefore, the selection of the right learning model will affect the ability of students to write. This study uses a quasi-experimental pretest posttest research design with a sample of one experimental classes totaling 33 people in the student population in class X SMA Negeri 5 Garut. Data collection techniques in the form of testsand  observations. The test results were analyzed by t-test through SPSS, and the results of observations were analyzed using descriptive techniques. The results showed that (1through the application of the PJBL model in class X MIPA 2 can improve the ability to write the Observation Result Report Text. This is evidenced by the acquisition of the resulting Sig.(2-tailled) value which is smaller than =0.05 (0.000 < 0.005); and (3) there is yes difference in the increase in the ability to write text reports on observations between students who take lessons with the Inquiry model and students who take lessons with the Project Based Learning (PJBL) model. This is evidenced by the acquisition of a Sig value of 0.191. Based on the criteria for testing the hypothesis that if the significance value is less than alpha (Sig < ), then Ho is accepted or Ha is rejected. Or it can also be explained because the lowest value (lower) is -0.02210 and the highest value (upper) is 0.10877, so that there is a value of 0 of them, then Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. Based on the research findings above, PJBL learning models are feasible to be used by teachers as an alternative to improve the quality of the process and quality of writing learning outcomes.
